Digital Learning Project Part 1
For our digital Learning Project we decided to look at ways to incorporate global collaboration through the use of free online tools such as Google. Google offers many tools that allow students to collaborate across the globe (Google drive, +Google, & Google sites). These tools can be used by educators to teach students how to be responsible citizens in an ever increasing technological and global society. In addition to google tools we looked at ePals which is a free resource for educators to connect with other educators who wish to have their classes collaborate. iEARNUSA was also a great site with tons of project ideas that helps to promote cultural understanding within our students.
After we explored both websites it became clear to us that creating a lesson and or project that would include a global collaboration tool wouldn't be difficult. I also plan on continuing to look at different project ideas from the iEARNUSA resource that might give us some insight as to what would could create for a digital learning project. Here is a google doc with a more detailed explanation of our findings

Digital Learning Project Part 2
For part 2 of my Digital Learning project I decided to design a project that incorporated the use of the tool google sites. For this planed project my students will have to produce a blog using google sites in order to spread awareness of the different groups who worked for civil rights in America. Groups that the students will be allowed to focus on included African Americans, Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, Native Americans, LGBTQ Americans, women in America, and Americans with disabilities. This blog is intended to line up with a research project that the students will be assigned during our Civil Rights unit.
The students will be given time within the class to complete the necessary research that they will have to do to learn about the different struggles that thier chosen group went through in attaining their civil rights. The project itself will cover a five week period and the students will be responsible for creating one blog post each week. Each new post should demonstrate an increased understanding of the civil rights movement. Here is a link to my project.
At the end of the five week unit the students will be responsible for looking at the blog posts of 3 other classmates and to provide feedback.
